Profile
“My training in cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and trauma-informed care enables me to further assist others in investigating their core beliefs and patterns and acquiring the tools necessary to create a healthy narrative about themselves and their lives.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I became a therapist to help others understand why we respond the way we do. In my 10+ years of experience in human services and six years as a licensed social worker, I have noticed similar patterns emerge in those I’ve had the pleasure to work with and learn from. This led me to understand that we, as humans, are hardwired to produce specific responses based on our nature, nurture, surroundings, and circumstances. My training in cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and trauma-informed care enables me to further assist others in investigating their core beliefs and patterns and acquiring the tools necessary to create a healthy narrative about themselves and their lives. I have seen the power of therapy and genuinely believe symptom reduction is possible for anyone willing to participate and self-examine.
What should someone know about working with you?
I have extensive experience working with clients who present with stage-of-life transitions (including pandemics), depression, anxiety, self-esteem concerns, and family of origin issues. Meeting you where you are and journeying together to the place you want to be is my mantra. I genuinely enjoy working with people and consider myself very relatable. I also have a background in improvisational comedy and find that — when appropriate — the use of humor can be a therapeutic tool in and of itself! My clients have reviewed me as compassionate, kind, focused, and able to help them make their own realizations and breakthroughs on their own terms. They’ve also told me that I’m an amazing listener, extremely down-to-earth, and great at encouraging them to come to their own conclusions and see things more clearly. I look forward to partnering with you and truly recognize that taking this step was not easy.
What can we accomplish together?
As a therapist with a varied background and fellow human being who understands, I feel confident that together we can do the following: Find your more authentic self; learn how to communicate effectively and negotiate your needs; get “unstuck” from negative patterns, relationships, and routines; work through periods of adjustment and change (good or bad, change can be scary!); and find the autonomy and decision-making skills that lead to a more fulfilling and sustainable life.
