Profile
“What you might want to know about me is that I have a great sense of humor, love fashion, and will truly feel with you to the point that my tears may flow as yours do, but therapy with me is not an easy street.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I always knew that I was going to be a social worker and therapist; I love people and I appreciate what it takes to grow ourselves! Positive psychology and post-traumatic growth are super important to me. Life hits all of us and within each of us is the power to overcome our “stuff” and thrive! Relationships with self, others, higher powers, food, money, and just about anything are a good summation of the work I do. Chronic pain and chronic illness are dear to my heart and I welcome clients with those experiences. I am a dialectical behavior therapy skills trainer and have completed training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and have done extensive training in somatic intervention for healing from trauma. I have worked as a founder, director, consultant, and therapist in every level of mental health care and substance use treatment.
What should someone know about working with you?
Finding the right therapist is on some level like finding a soulmate. What you might want to know about me is that I have a great sense of humor, love fashion, and will truly feel with you to the point that my tears may flow as yours do, but therapy with me is not an easy street. You and I will engage in hard healing work and you will come out stronger, empowered, and with a greater sense of self.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
One of my favorite mantras in life is one that I live by personally and professionally: “The more I know, the more I know I don’t know.” Life is complex! We are complex! No two of us are the same! I am constantly studying, training, reading, and asking so that I can give you what you need and not what someone else needs. Just like we are always evolving, the understanding of our inner workings is too. There is so much to uncover within us and the more knowledge and skills I gain, the more effective I can be with you!
“You and I will engage in hard healing work and you will come out stronger, empowered, and with a greater sense of self.”
