“Driven to make a difference in people’s lives, I have previously engaged in activism for families and community outreach via service coordination.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Driven to make a difference in people’s lives, I have previously engaged in activism for families and community outreach via service coordination. I quickly realized that I was magnetically drawn to helping people discover their inner potential and I was successful at facilitating growth on an individual level. Pursuing clinical social work gave me the opportunity to utilize the power of relationships to enable others to achieve satisfying fulfillment in so many ways.
What should someone know about working with you?
From the intake process through discharge, my approach is to empower the individual to make choices and activate their independence. Intake is seamless and the client completes a short questionnaire. We then collaborate on treatment goals and at times, I recommend reading or worksheets without any pressure or deadlines. I prefer working with clients who are invested in personal growth, open to challenge and change, and motivated to cooperate and consistently attend to their needs toward improving their current circumstances.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I am constantly exploring training opportunities to enhance my skills. I am particularly interested in trauma-focused training as well as learning coping techniques for uncertain times.
