“I am a structured therapist: I require my clients to put in effort and I assign homework, as sessions once or twice per week are not enough for change.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I knew from a young age that I wanted to help people. I enjoy helping people when they are going through tough times. I specialize in CBT, ACT, and mindfulness. I see the most benefit from these approaches and believe they help many people.
What should someone know about working with you?
I am a structured therapist: I require my clients to put in effort and I assign homework, as sessions once or twice per week are not enough for change.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I enjoy growing as a clinician and I enjoy learning about holistic approaches. I enjoy using mindfulness in therapy, because I see the benefits quickly in my clients with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I also enjoy continuing to learn about trauma and the approaches that are beneficial and proven to work.
Have you done any research-based work that you found particularly exciting? How does it inform your practice today?
I am proud of the dissertation I worked on for my doctorate degree, which was focused on burnout. I am also finishing a reference book in Spanish for therapists.
