“I have the resiliency and the blunt, straightforward nature to create deep therapeutic connections.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I consider counseling/therapy to be my only career, but I also have a strong background in office administration. I wanted diversity in the individuals I served, so I chose internships, residencies, and jobs that would expand my knowledge, skills, and ability to work with varying populations within the mental health and substance abuse communities. I was raised in New York City by parents who suffered from multiple chronic medical conditions, addiction issues, and their own traumas and both were in and out of hospitals from the time I turned 11. Growing up in such a multicultural melting pot, I have the ability to build quick rapport with individuals receiving services. I have the resiliency and the blunt, straightforward nature to create deep therapeutic connections. In 2019, I received specialized training in accelerated resolution therapy and believe that it is revolutionizing trauma treatment for both the client and the counselor.
What should someone know about working with you?
My intake process is done electronically through an email link. Once completed, scheduling takes place and plans and goals are discussed in the first few sessions in order to guide your individualized treatment. Services are provided virtually and all forms are electronically-signed. You will download an app where you can message me, participate in video sessions, and send me documents or pictures. The forms are all signed through a patient portal. I tailor my integrative approach to meet the client’s needs and goals. I truly value holding a trusting and safe space for my clients to complete therapeutic work and consider it an honor to serve each of them in their journeys of discovery, change, and healing.
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
The core values that guide me both personally and professionally are honesty, humor, and courage. I like to work collaboratively with my clients to address their mental health issues. Together, we will practice opening up and exploring rather than forcing possibilities. They are the experts on themselves and are in full control of how therapy proceeds. My work is rooted in trust, humor, and toughness.
