“My approach is client-centered and varied; my initial focus is on relationship building, but the client runs the show during sessions.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
After years of being a stay-at-home mom, I decided to go back to school for social work to make more of a difference in my community. Focusing on programming and policy at first, I quickly changed course and decided that my skills would be better utilized in the empowerment of individuals. I have worked with diverse populations and in various outpatient mental health settings before settling on private practice.
What should someone know about working with you?
My approach is client-centered and varied; my initial focus is on relationship building, but the client runs the show during sessions. I strive to be open, warm, and provide a nonjudgmental environment.
How do your own core values shape your approach to therapy?
I believe in the empowerment of people to help them lead authentic lives that are full of understanding and meaning. The capacity to adapt and evolve is inherent in all of us.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
The telehealth platform is providing a chance for people to receive support who would never have had access to therapy before. It disintegrates barriers to care, removing deterrents like transportation or location. This is exciting for clinicians as well as clients!
