Profile
“I bring a deep appreciation for the powerful relaxation and stress relieving properties that nature provides us.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
At a young age, I started working in the medical field and discovered over the span of several years that hearing others’ stories is what kept me coming back. This is when I decided to pursue a career as a therapist. To earn someone’s trust and hear about some of their most private thoughts and struggles is such a privilege. My experience in the medical field positions me to be holistic in my approach with a recognition of the mind-body connection.
What should someone know about working with you?
I wish clients would better appreciate the skills, abilities, and wisdom they bring to their sessions (and their lives). I bring clinical skills and my life experience but I’m not the expert in you. This means you and I will work together as a team to navigate the twists and turns that are hanging you up in life. My approach is integrative, meaning that it is tailored to each individual's needs. Typically, it involves some combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, interpersonal therapy, and motivational interviewing.
What do you view as the most important aspects of the therapeutic alliance?
For me, the most important aspect of our therapeutic relationship will be honesty and trust on both sides. You can count on me to give you feedback in the interest of your continued growth. Though it may not always feel comfortable to receive feedback, I promise to help you work through your feelings about that feedback and help you decide whether it's something you want to address further. In return, I trust my clients to be honest about their experiences knowing that they will not be judged or ridiculed.
What distinguishes you from other therapists?
I bring a deep appreciation for the powerful relaxation and stress relieving properties that nature provides us. If you have a passion for anything related to the outdoors - from aspiring gardeners who like to bring the outdoors in, adventure enthusiasts who crave new experiences, and anyone who has felt the peace nature can bring - I'd love to hear all about it and find ways to incorporate that into your therapy journey!
