What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I have had a passion for helping since I was in grade school. After leaving college, I brought that passion into the professional world and, since then, I have been working clinically. Along the way, I found a love of exercise, became a personal trainer, and realized that attention towards both mind and body can be used to help people.
What should someone know about working with you?
We'll have a phone conversation where I will tell you a little about me, answer any questions you have, and hear a little about what's happening with you. We'll make sure we are both comfortable with one another (this part is important!). After that, if everything goes well, we'll meet for a first session! We can meet either in person or over video chat and we'll break down your goals more specifically and get to know one another further. Once we have our direction, we'll use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, or any other necessary tools to address whatever issue we have made our target.
How does collaboration with other providers inform your work?
I believe strongly in collaborative care and have worked on integrated teams before. Furthermore, I have built a system for myself based on an integrated practice of exercise, nutrition, and sleep; I wanted to live the philosophy that I teach my clients. This belief extends not just to what I choose to do, but also with whom I choose to work with in the service of helping others.

What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to try therapy?
Take it one step at a time! Search the internet, find people you think will help, and then reach out and see if they are available. If they are, take your opportunity for a free phone consultation and see what they have to say. If you connect with them, go in for a session. Remember, trying anything new has inherent risk but on the other side of risk is reward. Therapists are all here to help!
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
Not to sound like a broken record, but I am excited to see a shift in the attitude of including more elements that can assist us therapeutically (such as exercise, nutrition, biofeedback, or heart rate variability). Our bodies and minds work together as a full system, not as two or more segmented parts, and we must approach healing ourselves in a unified way. I am also excited that we are being more inclusive of culture. Culture informs our world and our worldview, making it relevant and necessary to the therapeutic process.
