“I utilize CBT in my practice; I aim to assist you in solving current struggles by changing the negative thoughts, behaviors, and emotions surrounding the issue at hand.”
What should someone know about working with you?
I utilize CBT in my practice; I aim to assist you in solving current struggles by changing the negative thoughts, behaviors, and emotions surrounding the issue at hand. I am also skilled in dialectical behavior therapy and incorporate aspects of DBT, such as distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. I am not afraid to work with individuals with a borderline personality disorder diagnosis; in fact, I welcome it! I am passionate about ending the stigma that comes with a BPD diagnosis.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
In addition to CME credits, I attempt to attend one mental health-related convention each year. In 2019, I attended the Nevada Psychiatric Association Psychopharmacology Update. There, I learned about the novel medications that can assist in stabilizing mood symptoms.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
Telehealth offers a unique experience; the state of a person's home environment can speak volumes about his, her, or their mental health. I don't mind seeing your pets, either! Cats and dogs are welcome in our telehealth sessions. Telehealth is also making mental health treatment more accessible and private. You can close your office door or even speak with me in your car during a lunch hour. There is no longer a need to make excuses for where you're going and when you'll be back. Most importantly, you're receiving the treatment you deserve.
