Profile
“I have spent my career as a therapist striving to understand the why and how of suffering in order to help people connect with themselves and others so that they are able to lead more fulfilling lives.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the arts and entertainment industry. I grew up steeped in the arts and familiar with the pain and conflict from which creativity often springs. I gravitated naturally toward a career in the music industry but instead of feeling connected and inspired, I felt adrift amongst an archipelago of artists, producers, and managers all suffering in different kinds of pain and isolation. From depression and anxiety to insecurity and shame, the people around me were suffering and so was I. I simultaneously entered therapy and began studying psychology and things slowly began to make more sense. I still believe that beauty and growth can spring from pain and conflict but better understand the vitality of fostering and maintaining connection through periods of tumult and rupture. I have spent my career as a therapist striving to understand the why and how of suffering in order to help people connect with themselves and others so that they are able to lead more fulfilling lives.
What should someone know about working with you?
I approach therapy as a space to delve into and process stressful life transitions and past traumas with a goal of moving toward a place of deeper understanding so that we can break self-defeating patterns in our lives. I believe that success in therapy is collaboratively defined and forged. I pride myself on being simultaneously direct and supportive while staying up-to-date with evidence-based practice. I also aim to simultaneously create space for vulnerability and exploration while holding us both accountable to making progress toward your goals. I have over a decade of experience working with adults and adolescents struggling with challenges related to identity, sexuality, anxiety, and trauma. I welcome you to contact me for a free consultation to see if we might be a good fit.
What do you do for fun?
Eat, play, love! When I’m not cooking pasta for my friends and family, I’m playing soccer, watching soccer, or traveling and failing spectacularly at learning new languages.
