“Through my experiences of working in schools, agencies, and private practice and in working with individuals, couples, and families, I have come to work with people from all different walks of life and my appreciation for this field has never stopped growing.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Since I was young, I always had an interest in people’s experiences. I found myself in the role of listener and helper and I truly enjoyed it. The next step for me was to make it official. I went on to study psychology throughout my undergraduate and graduate studies and felt a deep connection with having the privilege to listen to people’s innermost thoughts, feelings, fears, and hopes. Through my experiences of working in schools, agencies, and private practice and in working with individuals, couples, and families, I have come to work with people from all different walks of life and my appreciation for this field has never stopped growing.
What should someone know about working with you?
When our journey together begins, we’ll spend some time getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you in and what you hope to accomplish. Because every individual is different, my work with each client can look different. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches and tailor sessions to help each individual client identify their goals and work toward them using the strengths, skills, and tools that we uncover and develop together.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
My learning in this field never stops. Being a therapist, it is essential to continue to gain knowledge to ensure that I can provide the best support to my clients. I am inspired by the learning opportunities everywhere in the field of psychology, not only from other professionals but in sessions with clients as well.
How do your own core values shape your approach to therapy?
Empathy, compassion, and thoughtfulness are the values that guide who I am as a therapist. Whatever it is that you are coming in with, my goal is to create a space for you to feel heard, understood, and empowered while gaining understanding about yourself and making effective changes.
