What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Coming from a diverse background helped me foster an innate ability to relate to others through empathy and compassion. Whether I was teaching in college or engaging in one-on-one conversations, I forged connections with people through mutual trust and understanding. After becoming a psychotherapist, I leveraged and honed these abilities to positively impact the lives of others.
What should someone know about working with you?
During the intake process, I employ natural curiosity with nonjudgment and compassion. My client defines goals and issues important to them and, of course, they will articulate what progress will be like when achieved.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
Healing and helping others heal is a lifelong process that has a ripple effect in the community. In addition to my full-time work with my clients, I partake in therapy sessions to help me evolve as a professional and a human being. I collaborate with psychiatrists and therapists as a team to ensure that we provide excellence in mental health care. Keeping abreast of evidence-based findings elevates our quality of care.
