Profile
“I hope that our time together can give you a better understanding of yourself and how you operate within the world and, more importantly, how to change what’s not working.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I entered social work as an undergraduate in college and later received my master’s in social work. I've worked with individuals who have been through intense traumas, such as sexual assault, torture, physical assault, domestic violence, and more. I've also worked with cancer patients and their families as well as with individuals who have lost a loved one to cancer.
What should someone know about working with you?
I hope that our time together can give you a better understanding of yourself and how you operate within the world and, more importantly, how to change what’s not working. Do you find yourself getting in your own way? Frustrated that anxiety, sadness, or your own ways of thinking are holding you back? My goal is to create a space where we can explore your decisions, obstacles, and emotions empathetically and without judgment. I am trained in acceptance and commitment therapy. What this means for you is that, as you walk into our sessions, we’ll focus on how to live a life you can be proud of. If you’re feeling lost in your thoughts, feeling like you get in your own way, or feeling like your life has changed in a way you never wanted or expected, we can work together to create real, measurable change in how you feel about yourself and how you operate in the world.
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
I believe in the power of being empathetic and kind to oneself. I think so often the judgment and criticism we feel come from an internal voice rather than external ones. Through self-compassion, we can begin to explore all elements of our character, including strengths, areas of growth, obstacles, and values.
