“Whatever your history or process, I respect it, and I aim to create a warm, open environment so that you feel comfortable.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I have a particular interest in how relationships (with the self and others) inform and impact mental and emotional wellbeing. I have also spent time developing my own emerging practice of therapeutic creative expression. I am trained as a family and couples therapist and for nearly a decade, I have worked in private practice and school settings. I've always believed in the importance of supporting individual growth alongside community-building. My early fieldwork experiences include volunteering at a disaster relief site and working to ensure sex workers' access to sexual health resources. These experiences expanded my understanding of the impact of systems on individuals and communities.
What should someone know about working with you?
For many people, the decision to come to therapy is a difficult one. Whatever your history or process, I respect it, and I aim to create a warm, open environment so that you feel comfortable. Your emotional safety is my top priority.
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
I grew up in a home and a community where curiosity was valued. As I listen to and discuss with my clients, I remind myself that curiosity is the bridge to understanding, conveying compassion, and, ultimately, forming a trusting, deep relationship.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
I'm an artist; creative expression is a vital outlet in my life, and it reminds me to think outside the box when working with clients. I've spent the past several years working with tie-dye, and the thing that I'm always struck by is how no two pieces are identical. This observation influences my own therapeutic work: It is a reminder of the fluidity between what makes us unique and what joins us together.
