“My overall objective is to help you achieve your goals, reach your fullest potential, and to tackle any obstacles that are holding you back in life.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I started my career as a school counselor and obtained my mental health license knowing that one day I would want to transition to private practice. After working for over 19 years as a New York City School Counselor, and through my own self-actualization and reflection during my therapy sessions, I decided that it was time to pursue my dream of helping others as a therapist. I am now fortunate enough to be able to use my vast knowledge and experience to guide and support my clients through their life obstacles, desire for change, and self-growth.
What should someone know about working with you?
Once we determine that we are a match, creating a safe and caring environment is my first priority. During our sessions, you will experience a space free of judgement where you can feel at ease to share your emotions and experiences in an accepting and confidential setting. I tailor my approach to each individual’s needs and listen with intent and care. My overall objective is to help you achieve your goals, reach your fullest potential, and to tackle any obstacles that are holding you back in life. My approach consists of talk therapy with the use of coping skills techniques in between sessions. My perspective is one that includes a holistic and comprehensive approach focused on mindfulness and mediation, when appropriate.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I strive to learn something new every day. I continually attend professional development sessions that focus on important mental health topics including anxiety, trauma, mindfulness, meditation, conflict resolution, and crisis de-escalation. I recently became a yoga instructor and hold my certification as a member of the Yoga Alliance. I utilize my yoga training in therapy sessions.
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
I believe in kindness, honesty, compassion, empathy, and am a genuine and down-to-earth person. I also believe in accountability and showing up each week to do the work that is needed for your success. I am confident that we will succeed together if you are open to my efforts, are open to change, and are willing to put in the necessary work with me to improve your wellbeing.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
Being able to help clients virtually is extremely exciting. It allows for easier access to mental health care and permits people to more readily incorporate therapy into their busy lives.
