“You're entering a space where you can be unapologetically you!”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Based upon life experiences that I've unfortunately encountered and by witnessing loved ones struggle with mental health concerns, I wanted to explore the field of mental health to ensure I had the resources and knowledge to share with others. I've had the pleasure to provide services to the underserved and at-risk populations in a variety of settings that include residential and vocational settings, juvenile detention centers, and facilitated in-home therapy.
What should someone know about working with you?
You're entering a space where you can be unapologetically you! That means you're free to laugh, cry, scream, and vent. I will be with you through each stage of emotion and I am going to challenge you to be in that moment, to feel, and to understand your emotions. I believe that healing begins when a client shows their authentic sense without worrying about being judged for what they are thinking or feeling. I create an atmosphere where the client understands that it is okay to not be okay but I also push the client to independently develop their own mental resilience and identify what they need to push forward through their struggles. The client is the captain of this team.
How do your own core values shape your approach to therapy?
I believe that we are all capable of becoming the best version of ourselves even through our trials and tribulations. I firmly believe that one's experience does not define them but instead teaches them something new about themselves. With the right attitude, motivation, and approach, growth and change will come.
