“I feel that all clients deserve to be met halfway, meaning my sessions vary depending on each client's need, and I like to think of my sessions as casual conversations that don’t take place in rigid settings.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Helping others has been a goal of mine since I was a child. After learning that I had the ability to help others make sense of their experiences, I quickly gravitated toward the mental health field. I believe that my ability to empathize is what helps me in this line of work.
What should someone know about working with you?
I feel that all clients deserve to be met halfway, meaning my sessions vary depending on each client's need, and I like to think of my sessions as casual conversations that don’t take place in rigid settings. I am able to assign homework if needed, although I like to describe it as "mindful exercises". I work best with clients who are ready to meet me halfway. You don't have to be chatty; I just ask that you be honest in your experiences. I believe we will make a great team!
How do your own core values shape your approach to therapy?
I love to remind myself that in the end, we are all human first. This has helped me in my approach to therapy because as much as my clients learn from me, I am also learning from them. I feel that it's a wonderful experience to be able to constantly evolve with them.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
I believe that telehealth is a gamechanger for everyone in the most positive way. At times, it’s difficult to get ourselves out of bed and out the door due to motivational factors (not to mention, mental health factors). It's nice to know that support is now easily accessible without having to leave the comfort of your home or family.
