“My therapy sessions are a bit unique in that I like to bring in tarot cards and oracle card readings when a client requests this; I view these cards as another clinical tool to help clients access deeper connections.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I always joke that I did not have a choice in becoming a therapist because my mom was a social worker and my dad was a psychotherapist. I have many fond memories of being in my dad's office, drinking chocolate milk and eating bagels from the deli downstairs. Jokes aside, I inherently knew that I enjoyed helping people problem solve and seeing their lives improve. I have worked with individuals and families on my own since 2013. I am trained in EMDR, trauma-focused equine assisted psychotherapy, nurturing parenting, and functional family therapy. I incorporate all of these modalities into my sessions.
What should someone know about working with you?
My therapy sessions are a bit unique in that I like to bring in tarot cards and oracle card readings when a client requests this; I view these cards as another clinical tool to help clients access deeper connections. I see progress in therapy when a client verbalizes that they no longer feel stuck, constrained, or unsure. I like working with clients who are highly motivated to make lasting changes in their lives.
How do your own core values shape your approach to therapy?
I truly believe that everyone is doing the very best that they can; I apply this principle to everyone I encounter personally and professionally and it has been really life-changing. Once you believe that everyone is doing the best they can, you start to value their initiatives and come to every situation from a place of love rather than resentment. With my clients, I believe that they are trying their absolute hardest to change, enhance, and improve their lives. The fact they have chosen to partner with me on that journey humbles me deeply.
