“I most value individual connection and helping others navigate life’s challenges by offering a safe, supportive space for self-expression and processing.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I come from a Greek background and consider myself a people person who enjoys learning about different experiences and building rapport. I most value individual connection and helping others navigate life’s challenges by offering a safe, supportive space for self-expression and processing. My therapeutic style provides a listening ear, offers support, and teaches others how to feel fulfilled in their own lives. I have worked with adolescents, adults, and families in day treatment programs, school-based health settings, community mental health agencies, and telehealth settings. What I have taken with me from place to place is the ability to inspire people to use their voices and recognize what they have control over.
What should someone know about working with you?
I take a client-centered, strengths-based approach to treatment. I believe in establishing a strong rapport with clients, and I provide a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can safely express your thoughts and feelings while working on identified goals. I will help you gain deeper self-awareness in order to manage stressors, alleviate symptoms, improve relationships, and facilitate personal growth. I take a collaborative approach to treatment, drawing on various evidence-based modalities to best meet your individual needs. I hope to support you in working toward an improved quality of life!
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
I was raised in a traditional Greek home where I was taught the value of perseverance, hard work, and integrity as well as an appreciation for diversity. I learned early that no one person, group, or family is the same and it is this premise that guides my practice to appreciate diversity while remaining culturally-sensitive. Whatever challenges we are facing, it is important for us to keep pressing forward no matter the pace.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
I am very excited that mental health is being discussed more frequently in mainstream media; this has reduced the stigma and stereotypes of mental illness. The expanding landscape of telehealth has not only increased access to mental health care, but it has normalized the importance of taking care of our mental health and wellness. Telehealth also allows for greater flexibility and saves time for both client and clinician.
