“My goal is to get you on the path to self-sufficiency and teach you to become your own therapist so that your need for therapy is not an ongoing, life-long commitment.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I was inspired to join the field of human services after the tragic loss of my dear friend, Stephanie Crispinelli, who fell victim to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti while on a humanitarian mission. For over 10 years, we have continued Stephanie’s mission by raising funds to build schools and provide aid in impoverished countries. My subsequent journey through the field of social work has ultimately led to my professional work and focus in the mental health field. My passion for helping others has always been and continues to be a driving force in both my professional and personal life. I became a therapist because I truly believe there is no greater reward than helping someone live their most fulfilling life. My clients continue to inspire me every day and for that, I am so grateful.
What should someone know about working with you?
While my approach to therapy is anchored to evidence-based psychotherapies that have been shown to help most people, you can expect our sessions to be tailored to your personalized needs and goals. My goal is to get you on the path to self-sufficiency and teach you to become your own therapist so that your need for therapy is not an ongoing, life-long commitment. In my private practice, I provide a safe, nurturing, and nonjudgmental environment for you to do just that.
What are some examples of evidence-based practices that you use?
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a therapy that I am enthusiastic to share! With the use of DBT, I will teach you new skills to manage painful emotions, decrease conflict in relationships, and tolerate distressing emotions. I also utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which has been shown to be useful for most people in improving mood and lessening anxiety and depression. I am also intensively trained in the utilization of cognitive processing therapy (CPT), which helps to significantly reduce symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress disorder. In addition, I enjoy teaching mindfulness and meditation-based skills to improve focus and relaxation.
