Profile
“I developed an interest in utilizing psychotherapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing, to address the relationship between mind and body.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
As early as childhood, I was interested in learning about what made some people thrive and overcome barriers to success and how others could do the same. I wanted to help people achieve their goals. While attending Tufts University, I studied child development and community health. I gained understanding of the developmental processes from birth to adulthood and learned about the determinants to health and wellness. I found myself most interested in the intersection of physical and mental health as it relates to meeting the needs of the whole person. Much of my work has been in integrated care settings, providing health and mental health services. Through these experiences, I developed an interest in utilizing psychotherapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing, to address the relationship between mind and body.
What should someone know about working with you?
I enjoy working with adults and couples from diverse backgrounds. My goal is to create a safe environment so clients can explore and understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and make necessary changes to achieve their goals and improve their lives. Clients are encouraged to practice new skills and complete assignments to address their needs and goals. My intake consists of reviewing policies, consenting to services, and completing a comprehensive intake assessment. Together, we will set goals and progress is measured by accomplishing your goals.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I continuously build my competencies as a provider by furthering my education and training. I recently earned an advanced clinical skills for adults certification through Boston College Graduate School of Social Work. I continue to seek professional development opportunities so I can utilize advanced skills to better help my clients improve their lives.
