“I encourage journaling, meditation, reading books, and other practices that will further enhance healing beyond our sessions.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
As far back as I can remember, I wanted to be in a profession where I helped and guided people. I was able to understand and empathize with the feelings of others through my own difficulties in my earlier years of life. As I look back, these challenges were a gift to provide me with the understanding and tools needed to help others. My spiritual nature and my curiosity helped me overcome obstacles and I want to help others do the same.
What should someone know about working with you?
Therapy with me is a process that we move through together. It all begins with a comfortable physical environment where you will automatically feel that judgment is left at the door. We work at your pace and I guide you to decide where you would like to begin with the knowledge that everything will be covered in time. I encourage journaling, meditation, reading books, and other practices that will further enhance healing beyond our sessions. Clients who start the therapeutic journey must be ready and willing to dedicate their time and energy to their healing. Sessions with me will be an experience where we explore your innermost thoughts and feelings with a sense of understanding and nonjudgment. We will discuss ways of coping where you will transcend the pain and find the peace you have been searching for.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
As human beings, we are forever evolving, learning, and changing. As a provider of mental health services, it is important to always learn and develop the appropriate skills in order to provide the most stellar care to clients. As someone who specializes in anxiety, I have attended training that has provided more tools to give to clients struggling in this area. The training I find to be the most interesting involves energy psychology, and this is something I continue to have curiosity about. I also practice meditation daily in order to stay focused and engaged in sessions.
