Profile
“Throughout my education and postmaster's training, I have found myself most excited about aiding clients in navigating the world around them and I’m in constant admiration of people's strengths and desire for growth within themselves.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Since my undergraduate studies, I have been fascinated by the inner workings of the human mind, behavior, and emotional responses. I spent years after college trying out various fields, such as advertising, education tech, and museum work, but I kept going back to the area of psychology. Upon applying to a social work master's program, I decided to focus on social justice and supporting communities, as those who are frequently overlooked in mental health care resonated deeply with me. Throughout my education and postmaster's training, I have found myself most excited about aiding clients in navigating the world around them and I’m in constant admiration of people's strengths and desire for growth within themselves.
What should someone know about working with you?
I have experience working with a range of topics that individual's face, including trauma, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, addiction, struggles with transitions in life, and interpersonal stressors. I utilize a psychodynamic and eclectic approach and concrete behavioral and cognitive tools to provide a specialized treatment plan for you. I believe the therapeutic relationship is a significant tool in your treatment, and I bring an empathetic and collaborative approach to creating a safe, welcoming space for you.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I completed the one-year Psychodynamic Approaches to Clinical Practice program at the National Institute of Psychotherapies in 2019. This program was greatly beneficial to furthering my understanding of psychoanalytic theories and increasing my understanding of how to assist my clients in delving into and processing their emotional, cognitive, and behavioral experiences that cause them distress or confusion.
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
Throughout my life, I have been involved in community work around the world, which has greatly impacted my awareness of how others live, their challenges, and how to enter a career that would support others. Within my practice as a social worker, I have been privileged to work with clients of various races, genders, sexual orientations, cultures, and backgrounds. I greatly value the education I receive from my clients’ lives and experiences and I strive to create a culturally-competent, safe, and collaborative space.
