“I believe in providing a nonjudgmental and safe environment where a person can not only grow but thrive.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I have always had a passion for helping other people. I began my career as a caseworker, working with families impacted by the foster care/adoption system. I then worked with children who were unfortunately placed into inpatient psychiatric hospitalizations. I have witnessed an amazing resilience in the children and families who have experienced generational abuse and trauma. In addition, I have worked in a mental health clinic, providing therapy to adults, children, and adolescents. Currently, I assist children and families as a therapist in an educational setting. I believe in empowering people using a strengths-based approach, which will improve their self-esteem and provide a better quality of life. My preferred modality is cognitive behavioral therapy. I believe if you change your thoughts, you can change your life.
What should someone know about working with you?
The intake process is designed to better understand your history, goals, and motivation for therapy. It’s important to understand what you want and the plan to get there. I believe in providing a nonjudgmental and safe environment where a person can not only grow but thrive. I have been told that I am easy to talk to and present a down-to-earth environment.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
Telehealth has developed into a great tool to make therapy more accessible. People can engage in therapy at their convenience with more flexible times and locations. I am very excited about this change and the fact that therapy can reach more people who are interested in exploring their issues for an improved quality of life.
