“My main priority, first and foremost, is that the client feels safe and comfortable in therapy.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
My path to becoming a therapist involved my innate compassion for the people around me and my keen understanding of them; I have long felt a passion for this field. When I work with a client, I see a person and not a diagnosis. I aim to work with individuals and incorporate their unique strengths to overcome challenges and life experiences and become the best version of themselves.
What should someone know about working with you?
My main priority, first and foremost, is that the client feels safe and comfortable in therapy. I work collaboratively with the client and would like for them to feel empowered toward healing themselves. I am just assisting along the way. I work with various types of individuals who are struggling with life issues and/or mental health challenges.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I continue to stay engaged in learning more about the field while attending trauma and psychotherapy training.
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
I was brought up in a religious environment, which taught me to respect all individuals regardless of their beliefs, race, gender, etc. I believe this helps me feel compassion for others and see the value in each and every individual I work with.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
Mental health has recently become much more accessible with the advent of telehealth, and I am happy to be a part of that.
