“I believe you are the expert of your own life; you have all the answers and I am someone to help you sort through all that has buried those answers.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Since I was a young child, I have felt a deep sense of empathy. It was and still is a very natural instinct of mine to sense and understand the emotions of those I am in the presence of. Before entering the field, I felt it was necessary for me to seek my own therapy and understand myself on a deeper level. I learned about my own barriers and self-defeating thoughts, how to implement healthy boundaries, and how I was impacted by introjection and projection on a daily basis. My own experience, education, and training have helped me gain a genuine and deeper understanding and value of self-awareness to live a fulfilled life, which I hope to use to teach others how to discover their true self.
What should someone know about working with you?
I believe you are the expert of your own life; you have all the answers and I am someone to help you sort through all that has buried those answers. I am your soundboard to help you rediscover your own voice, beliefs, and messages that may have been lost during adversity, toxic relationships, and hopelessness. As you learn about yourself, I learn with you and provide you with the tools to gain confidence, insight, and belief within yourself that you and only you can choose how you want to live your life.
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
I believe every single person is unique in their own way and that’s why it is so important for me to take each step with you during this journey to understand your perception of the world, how you learned certain messages, and what turns led you to where you are today. To gain a better understanding of my value of identity, I believe two people in the same household can experience a traumatic event together at the same time and still have different thoughts, perceptions, and emotions. This is how I am able to see you, hear you, and appreciate your authentic story in a way that no amount of textbooks, training, or guides can provide.
What is your life like outside of therapy?
I feel my best when I am out in nature and appreciating the beauty our planet has to offer, which leads me to hiking with my husky often! I value spending quality time with family and friends. I make it a priority to travel and explore so I can learn more about other cultures, reflect and appreciate my own life, and grow both personally and professionally. In addition to therapy, I am also turning a lifelong dream of mine into a reality. I value going after what I want and being a woman who paves her own path!
