“I was born in Siberia, raised in Central Asia, and live in the US.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Before getting my degree in psychology, I earned degrees in engineering and political science in Russia. I believe that all three degrees are quite useful in my current career. I use knowledge from each of these fields while working with my clients. I was born in Siberia, raised in Central Asia, and live in the US. This helps me to fully understand cultural and expectation differences, to be more agile and make adjustments, and to understand my client’s view of the world. I regularly attend continuing education at Harvard Medical School.
What should someone know about working with you?
I work with adults, couples, and families and I will see teens over 16 years of age. Before our first session, I will email intake paperwork to make our first meeting more productive. At the beginning of the treatment, you can determine how you define progress in therapy. I will not be giving homework unless it’s what you desire. You are a driver of your therapy and I am here to assist you.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I love learning new information to help my clients and nourish my own curiosity. The focus of my learning has been on autistic spectrum disorders, neuropsychiatry, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other subjects. I have extensive training in treating anxiety. I enjoy taking neuroscience courses to learn more about overlapping areas of psychiatry and neurology.
