Profile
“I incorporate my passions of mind, body, and energy healing into my therapy practice.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
My journey to becoming a therapist began in the equine world. I started as a certified therapeutic horseback riding instructor and quickly witnessed the healing that took place with the mind and body. This led me down the path of obtaining my master's in mental health counseling so that I could continue this journey of healing. Through personal connections, I found the world of hospice, which allowed me to focus my training on grief and trauma. I incorporate my passions of mind, body, and energy healing into my therapy practice. I am also a reiki practitioner.
What should someone know about working with you?
I utilize a variety of different modalities to best meet the needs of my clients. I obtain a thorough history and spend time discussing the goals that my clients set for themselves in this therapeutic setting. I provide a safe and nurturing atmosphere so my clients feel supported as they walk their healing journey.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I view myself as a life-long learner and am always eager to expand my knowledge base in the world of healing. During my time working with a particular client, I actively seek additional training specific to the client’s needs. Since I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy, I find it important to continue expanding my toolbox. I also give back to my community by teaching about grief and trauma to various agencies and community organizations.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
The emergence of telehealth as a platform for therapy is an exciting and important advancement in the field; therapy is more accessible now than ever before. Clients can choose to log in to a session at their convenience and in their own space, allowing the therapeutic work to be richer and more streamlined. I look forward to the advancements that are to come as we adapt to our ever-changing world.
