Profile
“Sessions with me are relaxed, comfortable, and unintimidating; I am compassionate, empathetic, down-to-earth, and I have a sense of humor.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
My counseling experience is broad, ranging from work with runaway youth, foster care children and their families, seniors, those experiencing mental health and physical challenges, high school students, homeless populations, domestic violence victims, and persons experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief. I have worked in family shelters, supportive housing programs, schools, and counseling agencies. I love working with all people, meeting them where they are and guiding them toward where they want to go. I believe that change is always possible and that everyone can experience a life of meaning and purpose.
What should someone know about working with you?
Sessions with me are relaxed, comfortable, and unintimidating; I am compassionate, empathetic, down-to-earth, and I have a sense of humor. I take the time to really understand where my clients are coming from. I strive to listen well, build trust, and validate my client's feelings. My style is more psychodynamic and unstructured. I appreciate and enjoy working with all people.
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
I am a spiritual person who believes that there is cause for hope and happiness even through challenges, loss, grief, and adversity and I believe that it is often through these experiences that we achieve the greatest growth and truly discover ourselves. I am committed to helping my clients rediscover themselves and find meaning and purpose in their lives. My hope is that I might help my clients discover the tools necessary to reframe and reclaim their lives, suffering less and living more fully each day.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
I am excited by telehealth, as it offers so much more flexibility and autonomy. I believe that telehealth is a game-changer for mental health, as its ease of use allows for more people to be able to take advantage of counseling and reap its incredible benefits.
