“My practice has been shaped by all of my work experiences and I have learned that human beings all need and crave connection with others.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I believe that the most genuine and engaged therapists feel their profession is a calling. I studied education as an undergrad and found myself more focused on and interested in the emotional wellness of students. I am a natural nurturer and many clients have stated I am authentic, relaxed, and very easy to talk to. My smile, sense of humor, and natural calm state help me work well with people. I have worked in foster care settings, residential treatment centers with children and adolescents, and in private practice for 10 years. My practice has been shaped by all of my work experiences and I have learned that human beings all need and crave connection with others.
What should someone know about working with you?
My intake process is simple and involves a short amount of paperwork. I have a relaxed approach and encourage clients to tell their story from any starting point they would like. I enjoy working with so many types of people and I have learned over the years that rapport can be built with a diverse group of individuals.
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
My life experiences, both positive and challenging, have completely shaped me as a therapist. I have evolved as a clinician as I have learned more about myself and others. I have actively engaged in my own therapy to assure I feel balanced and healthy, and this work has sharpened my clinical skills greatly.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
I am very excited about the continued evidence-based research that supports yoga for mental health. I plan to be certified as a yoga instructor within the year so I can provide yoga therapy groups and individual yoga therapy sessions.
