Profile
“I specialize in working with high achieving, ambitious women who are struggling to confidently set boundaries and practice consistent self-care.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I became a therapist because I realized at an early age that I had a gift for compassionately connecting to people and a passion for helping others live balanced, healthy lives. For over 20 years, I have used a system to successfully help many people explore the WHY, WHAT, and HOW of the mindset shift, which is necessary for creating the life they dream of. I specialize in working with high achieving, ambitious women who are struggling to confidently set boundaries and practice consistent self-care. I especially love creating a safe space for black and brown women to be their true selves as they explore issues and create the lives they love.
What should someone know about working with you?
When I provide treatment, I place a strong focus on the mind-body connection and on balancing the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of the whole person. Together, we will explore how your faith and overall mindset are impacting your ability to consistently practice self-care and set boundaries. We will use those insights as our map to help you create a life that balances your values, your relationships, and your needs. I am my client’s most passionate cheerleader. When we work together, expect to cry a little, laugh a lot, and determinedly march toward your defined goals.
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
Hi there! I’m Dr. Maxine, and I’m here to tell you that there is a better way to live your life. How do I know this? Well, I used to be just like you — too busy to actually enjoy living my life. Despite running several successful businesses and pulling in a six-figure income from each of them, I found myself going to bed every evening feeling unfulfilled. After a while, I began to realize I was prioritizing work not only over my physical and mental wellbeing but also over the dreams and plans I once had for my life. So, I began working not only toward making a living but also making a life! Now, I’m on a mission to teach other women that it is never too late to start living purposefully and that prioritizing your wellbeing and dreams for the future isn’t just a better way to live but necessary to live!
