“I specialize in the treatment of anxiety and depression, using a combination of Eastern and Western approaches to help address the core of the problem.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
The field of psychology and improving the wellbeing of individuals has always been my passion and pursuit. Initially, I became a school counselor because I enjoyed contributing back to my community by helping children and adolescents become mentally healthy, improve their coping skills, succeed academically, and prevent bullying. Eventually, I started working with families and adults to help deal with life difficulties that may lead to depression and anxiety when not addressed early on. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety and depression, using a combination of Eastern and Western approaches to help address the core of the problem.
What should someone know about working with you?
When working with me, you can expect warmth and acceptance without judgment. I validate your feelings and I help you find the answers you are looking for by asking you questions to help you further process your feelings and thoughts. I also assign homework as needed.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I am continually learning new techniques to help my clients improve their lives by using modalities tailored to each client's needs. I may use motivational therapy, play therapy, CBT, DBT, positive psychology, or energy psychology. I have worked in many settings, including urban cities, Paterson Public Schools, clinical outpatient settings, and nonprofit organizations.
How do your own core values shape your approach to therapy?
I have lived in four different countries, I have visited many other countries, and I plan to travel more in the future. I am very well-rounded and have been exposed to many different cultures that have helped me keep an open mind and respect other people's individualities, ways of life, and religions. From me, you can expect the highest level of professional ethics, respect, and integrity.
