“I will be here as a guide to help you navigate the exploration of emotions and gain insight into your experiences while providing support to build on your social-emotional strengths.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
With over 12 years in the field, my professional experience is dedicated to providing equitably and compassionate service to communities of color in the areas of health and mental health using community health approaches, family work, and individual therapy. I have worked in mother-infant programs, preventive care programs, college success programs, and school-based settings. I have been trained in relational family therapy by a New York City agency affiliated with the Ackerman Institute and earned a certificate from the NYU School of Social Work in clinical practice with adolescents.
What should someone know about working with you?
I strongly believe that it is important to create a space of collaboration, respect, trust, and support. This will often develop during our initial sessions as I learn more about you, your history, and your experience with your current symptoms. As you embark on this therapeutic journey with me, we will collaborate and develop goals based on your current needs. I will be here as a guide to help you navigate the exploration of emotions and gain insight into your experiences while providing support to build on your social-emotional strengths.
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
As a first-generation Latina immigrant, I bring a firsthand cultural understanding of the experiences that immigrant communities and first-generation immigrants encounter, which gives me more insight into systemic and structural challenges and the strengths demonstrated in your healing journey.
