“I have often been told that I am a very sensitive, warm, and affirming person who is easy to talk to and able to create a safe space free from judgment.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I have often been told that I am a very sensitive, warm affirming person, easy to talk to which leads to feeling safe and free from judgment. I have found that my own treatment has led to a desire to help others. Luckily, I was blessed with Therapists that were committed and competent. I have over 25 years clinical experience working with a variety of individuals including LGBTQ, Substance Abuse and individuals with Anxiety and Depression. It is an honor for me to guide someone on their wellness journey and assist them in reaching their goals.
What should someone know about working with you?
I am a very active Therapist and work to empower individuals with the tools they need to reduce anxiety or depression and change negative thought patterns. We will develop concrete goals from our first session that will guide us in the process. My ultimate goal is to help you move forward with new tools and coping strategies. As your Therapist, I will guide you on your journey towards a happier and healthier life.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I believe very strongly in ongoing learning. I am often reading or taking a variety of online courses. I also participate in an ongoing consultation group for mental health providers.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
I am really excited about the telehealth options for mental health. Studies have shown that telehealth is just as effective as in person sessions. This option opens treatment for many that may not have had access in more rural areas. It gives clients more options as you are no longer limited by location.
