“In my personal life, I’ve navigated many challenging life circumstances, which I believe has given me resilience, insight and empathy for others”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
It is an honor and privilege to be able to do this work. I started on my journey to becoming a therapist many years ago and I hold undergraduate degrees in therapeutic recreation and social work as well as a master’s degree in social work. I’ve previously worked in foster care, in school settings, on a mobile crisis team, and as a clinical supervisor in an outpatient mental health clinic. In my personal life, I’ve navigated many challenging life circumstances, which I believe has given me resilience, insight and empathy for others. I have a deep understanding of trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and parenthood.
What should someone know about working with you?
Because counseling can sometimes be an overwhelming experience, I aim to put clients at ease from the first moment. I will spend time getting to know you in a safe, comfortable, and nonjudgmental environment. I deeply care for my clients and am very devoted to their wellbeing. Once I fully understand your unique personality and life circumstances, we will carefully choose the most appropriate therapy technique(s) suited to your individual needs.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I believe in utilizing evidence-based approaches, which means I value becoming informed and trained in these practices. Specifically, I spend time reading books and articles, attending training, and meeting with a clinical supervisor to ensure my clients are receiving the most up-to-date and effective therapeutic services. I am certified in TF-CBT, mindfulness-based CBT, DBT, and somatic intervention. I'm also trained in Psychodrama and Internal Family Systems.
