Profile
“My intention is to support and empower my clients and create a safe, nonjudgmental space while assisting them in discovering a deeper understanding of themselves and helping them cope effectively with life's stressors, navigate healthy relationships, and work on improving their self-esteem.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Shortly after obtaining my art history undergraduate degree, I realized I missed working more closely with people and engaging in work that I found meaningful. After a therapy session one night, I drove away realizing, “THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO DO. I WANT TO BE A THERAPIST!” I had been in therapy for years and my sister was a psychologist, so I was pretty familiar with the mental health field. I applied to graduate school for social work and the rest is history. I believe this is the work I was meant to do and cannot imagine doing anything else. Supporting people who allow you entry into their deepest and darkest fears and dreams is such an honor, and I feel very fortunate to be a fit for this work.
What should someone know about working with you?
I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important component to therapeutic success. This relationship can serve as a corrective experience from earlier foundational experiences, relationships, or interactions, so my approach is always based on our connection. I care deeply about the individuals I work with and work collaboratively with them to identify ways in which their own life experiences continue to influence their adult lives. We will work toward understanding the root causes of behaviors, symptoms, and reactions that may be keeping them stuck or hindering their relationships with themselves and others.
What else might be important to know?
My intention is to support and empower my clients and create a safe, nonjudgmental space while assisting them in discovering a deeper understanding of themselves and helping them cope effectively with life's stressors, navigate healthy relationships, and work on improving their self-esteem. By helping them examine their insecurities, doubts, and fears, we will work toward a greater sense of self-awareness, self-acceptance, and an overall more positive self-regard so each client can live a richer and more meaningful life.
