What should someone know about working with you?
Therapy with me is collaborative and based on connection and experiential learning. Intake is 1-2 sessions where I assess your presenting issue/problem and explore your relevant background, culture, and values. Intake ends with a diagnosis and a collaboratively-identified treatment goal. Every 4-6 sessions, we check in on that goal and adjust treatment (or the goal) based on your progress. I use a mix of structured exercises (e.g., mindfulness and EFT) and interpersonal approaches. There is always something we can identify to work on between sessions, but it depends on the client and issue. There is never any expectation regarding how long the treatment journey must last. However, all clients must start off weekly for a minimum of four sessions.
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
Love, hope, and action. My goal is for you and everyone to grow with authenticity. This means being loved for exactly who you are, discovering and creating your unique path to reach your therapeutic and life goals, and getting the support that moves you forward. Difference is not dangerous. Diversity-affirming and collective healing practices are essential to connection, growth, and transformation. Ubuntu — “I am because of you.”
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
I love discovery and the growth edges of the science and art of psychology that enter into spaces for people not well-understood or overlooked. I’m excited about liberation psychology and the growing ways we are starting to understand how our distress and wellness are tied to our oppression and/or personal context, indigenous healing practices that are often dormant inside us, and the power of healing collectives in communities. I also love exploring the part of the psychological treatment spectrum that moves into mental health wellness and the ways we can impact our health with prevention and growth strategies.

What are your identity (positionality and values) and your superpower? I am Black, mixed-ethnicity, a mother, a former athlete, and a secular humanist. My superpower is connection, which requires an unconditional and inclusive capacity for love, being intellectually nimble, and having natural curiosity. I experience reverence for a person’s authentic and actual lived experience — whether it matches my own or not. I love co-discovering new experiences (e.g., sensations, emotions, insights, and perspectives) as we let go of judgment and connect to the moment together in session.
