“I find it absolutely rewarding to help people discover their resiliency and achieve healthier relationships in the process, those with others, and the one with themselves.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I have always had an interest in human behavior and how events and relationships shape who we are. In college, I studied psychology and grew intrigued by the idea of resiliency and our ability as humans to achieve growth despite challenging experiences. I find it absolutely rewarding to help people discover their resiliency and achieve healthier relationships in the process, those with others and the one with themselves. During my career, I’ve developed a passion for working with young adults as they navigate significant life transitions. It’s an honor to help them develop effective coping skills and better manage life’s stressors.
What should someone know about working with you?
I believe the relationship between the client and therapist is essential to the success of treatment. I use our consultation session to determine relationship fit and make sure we have the capacity to bond. It’s important that clients feel safe, supported, and confident with me as their clinician. I work with my clients to identify beliefs and patterns that have inhibited their ability to achieve growth and find the happiness they deserve. I’m committed to providing a safe and supportive space for them to achieve their hopes, dreams, and goals.
How does collaboration with other providers inform your work?
Collaboration is absolutely essential in supporting growth! I often work with other providers to meet additional needs my client may have. I’m committed to this holistic approach and believe providing the most effective care to my clients involves treating the whole person. I’m happy to discuss referrals on an as-needed basis.
What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to try therapy?
The idea of talking about difficult experiences and private thoughts with someone you’ve just met often feels overwhelming! I understand how nerve wracking it can be! But it’s important to acknowledge and honor these feelings - they’re real, valid, and normal! Therapy is a powerful tool to help you navigate challenging experiences and gain a greater understanding of yourself. It is a space dedicated to you! Finding a therapist who fits YOU is important. So consider your goals and make sure you know what you’re looking for in a provider.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
I am most excited about the technology shifts that are evolving within the world of mental health. These advancements have increased access to therapy across communities through the teletherapy platform and have simplified the (often) overwhelming process of finding help. Clients are now empowered, more than ever, to find a therapist that best aligns with their specific needs. With telehealth, location is not an issue!
