What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I have worked in the mental health field for the past six years as a mental health counselor, using evidence-based techniques in combination with a body-oriented and spiritual development focus. I worked with multicultural groups that appeared to benefit from a more integrative approach. I also studied past life regression as taught by Brian Weiss and took part in group processes through core energetics. As a grad student, I studied adult lifespan stages and spiritual development alongside Dr. Judith Miller. I am passionate about the stages of psychospiritual development and supporting clients in their individual journeys.
What should someone know about working with you?
Intake is a two-step process where both the clinician and client determine compatibility. The treatment contract is reviewed and goals are set for the therapeutic partnership. Homework may also be part of the therapeutic process, especially journaling and reading to encourage reflection between sessions.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I attend training, read literature, and explore research in order to keep up with new approaches to therapy. On a personal level, I participate in multiple forms of therapy, such as core energetics, breathwork, and life regression.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
I’m excited about the field incorporating new technologies as a way of making mental health more accessible at any time and place.
