“I offer a confidential, supportive, and compassionate environment.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Psychology and counseling have been my passion throughout my education as well as my work history. My educational background includes a BA in psychology from SUNY Albany, an MA and EDM in psychological counseling from Columbia University, an MS and PsyD in school psychology from St. John's University, and a certificate in educational administration from CUNY Queens College. In New York, I’ve had the unique experiences of working within the field of education as a guidance counselor, a counselor within an alternative education program, a school psychologist, and a coordinator for allied services at Nassau BOCES. My private practice focuses on children, adolescents, couples, and family therapy as well as testing and evaluations. In Florida, I am dedicated to the private practice setting. My primary focus is on individual therapy services, family therapy, parent training, and marital counseling.
What should someone know about working with you?
I offer a confidential, supportive, and compassionate environment. My focus is in the areas of anxiety, mood disorders, coping skills, parenting, stress-related issues, marital and relationship difficulties, personality disorders, eating disorders, and overall adjustment using cognitive behavioral techniques as well as interpersonal/relational counseling. During the initial session, clients should expect a warm and open environment that encourages collaboration in goal-setting as well as a discussion of methods for working toward achievement of those goals. With my child clients, I prefer a family approach in which my goal is to always work collaboratively and in the best interest of the child.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
Through every personal life event as well as my working with individuals from various life stages and cultural backgrounds, I continue to learn and grow as a provider. My interests, excitement, and focus continually change based upon the needs of my clients as well as the most updated, research-based information available. Presently, I enjoy yoga and meditation practices, which offer a positive impact on mental health and overall wellbeing. In addition, I am looking forward to gaining more knowledge and experience through mindfulness training and continuing education in this area.
