Profile
“I was drawn to the field after my therapist recognized my qualities and aspirations and recommended that I look into social work school.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I was an early childhood and elementary school educator and then a daycare director before attending Hunter College School of Social Work. I have worked in several hospitals and other clinical settings and I’ve supervised social workers and other mental health clinicians. I was drawn to the field after my therapist recognized my qualities and aspirations and recommended that I look into social work school.
What should someone know about working with you?
If you are interested in change and willing to talk about yourself and your challenges, I need a commitment from you to meet weekly for at least six months. I need to get to know you and your history to process your needs and apply interventions. I work with adults only.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I attended a child psychotherapy institute early in my career and continue to learn. I am currently learning emotionally-focused therapy and have an interest in cognitive behavioral therapy. I am a member of the SWEET Institute and frequently read about skills to assist clients.
