Sumathy Karuppannan Applewhite has over 15 years of mental health experience, specializing in BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ mental health. She teaches Decolonizing Social Work: Power, Race, Oppression and Privilege; Direct Practice with Individuals and Groups; and Advocacy in Social Work Practice at Columbia University School of Social Work. She uses a holistic, psychodynamic approach.
