Profile
“As a therapist who believes in challenging the status quo and embracing uniqueness, I find that it is often easy for me to establish rapport with my clients.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I became interested in mental health after taking an intro to psychology class in high school. I fell in love with the field and have been passionate about mental health ever since. My upbringing along with the trauma I experienced as a child helped guide my interest in the field. It turned out that I was a natural at making people feel comfortable, giving pep talks, and helping people problem-solve. I have worked in shelters, prisons, and corporate offices with just about every population you can think of.
What should someone know about working with you?
I am very relaxed but very direct with my client because the goal is to get them to their true happy place and we don't have much time to waste. I enjoy hearing the client's backstory and love recognizing how it has impacted their current life. I am solution-focused so I will assign homework and give the client tasks to work on outside of session. I mostly subscribe to solution-focused practices and cognitive behavioral therapy. I love working with people who want to reach their full potential and best quality of life.
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
My upbringing and some amazing life experiences have helped to shape my view of the world. As a therapist who believes in challenging the status quo and embracing uniqueness, I find that it is often easy for me to establish rapport with my clients. I have worked with most populations and pride myself on cultural competency.
