    When does our Privacy Notice apply?

    This Privacy Notice describes the types of information we may collect from you when:

    • You visit or use our Platform but not any information we process on behalf of your Provider such as protected health information.
    • We communicate with you via emails or text message or other electronic messages between you and us that are not about your visits with a provider or your healthcare.

    When does our Privacy Notice NOT apply?

    Alma functions as a business associate to providers who you find through our Platform (“Providers” or “Provider”). So, Alma’s collection, use and disclosure of protected health information is guided by HIPAA and the terms of a business associate agreement and other contracts, not this Privacy Notice. For questions on how your protected health information is handled, please reach out to your Provider or review your Provider’s notice of privacy practices. For questions about how your Alma employee or Alma provider personal information is handled, please contact Alma below as this information is also not covered by this policy.

    When does our Privacy Notice apply?

    When you visit our Platform or use our Services and it is not for a telehealth visit, visiting your Alma client account, or anything related to your receiving healthcare services, Alma processes certain personal information, and this Privacy Notice explains how Alma uses that information. This could be, for example, when you visit the Website to read about Alma’s services or when you search the Website for Alma’s history or values.

  2. Personal Information

    What is Personal Information?

    In a broad sense, personal information is information from and about you that may be able to personally identify you. For example, your name and email address are personal information. We treat any information that may identify someone as personal information, so you may hear about our use of personal information that we have no indication it is actually linked to you. We are broadly explaining our use of any information that could be used to identify a person, even if we do not have the ability to use it to identify you or other clients or providers

    Alma collects personal information directly from you or automatically from your devices when you interact directly with our Platform. When you interact directly with our Platform, you may not be required to provide us with certain data requested; however, some data is necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Notice and if you fail to provide any required data, you may not be able to access our Platform.     How do we use your Personal Information?

Some examples are seeing if what we’re saying on the Platform is effective, and aggregating site usage data to identify trends like how many people are visiting the home page throughout different times of the year.

    • Directly from You. We collect some Personal Information directly from you. For example, when you contact our Customer Support team not about your medical care or your account. Additionally, we will collect information from you when you visit or use our Platform not related to finding or receiving medical care. We will receive the contents of your message or any attachments you may send to us, as well as any additional information you choose to provide.
    • Automatically. We collect some information automatically as you navigate through our Website and Platform. We are committed to protecting your personal information from being used by advertisers for purposes outside of providing us our necessary ad services. We need to be able to see how well our ads are doing so that we can reach the people who need our services.         • Other third-party tools. We use other third-party tools to track the performance of our Platform.       • From Third Parties. We may collect Personal Information from some of our business partners. If we do, we always collect that information with the limitation that Alma is only collecting the information to perform the Services.

    We do not share, sell, or otherwise disclose your Personal Information for purposes other than those outlined in this Privacy Notice. We may share your Personal Information with certain third parties and for purposes, including:

    • Our affiliates, service providers, and business partners;

    If you do not wish to have your email address used by Alma to promote our Platform or the Services, you can opt-out at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any e-mail or other marketing communications you receive from us. This opt out does not apply to information we need to send you related to your use of the Alma Platform and Services such as payment reminders or transaction confirmation emails. It will apply to marketing emails from us. If you are wanting to opt out of emails from your Provider, you will also need to speak with your provider directly.

    You may also see certain ads on other websites because we participate in advertising networks. Ad networks allow us to target our messaging to users through demographic, interest-based, and contextual means. These networks track your online activities over time by collecting information through automated means, including through the use of cookies, web server logs, and web beacons.     How do I access and correct my Personal Information?

    You can review and change your Personal Information by logging into our Platform or by Contacting Us using the information below.

    You can review your Personal Information by logging into our Platform. As a reminder, this policy does not apply to your protected health information. Please contact your Provider with a request to delete or change your protected health information.

    You may Contact Us to inform us of any changes or errors in any Personal Information we have about you to ensure that it is complete, accurate, and as current as possible or to delete your account. We will not be able to complete your request if the request relates to protected health information such as information on your health records or other information in the client portal. We may not be able to complete your request if we believe it would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

    Who may use the Services?

    Our Services and Platform is available exclusively to users within the United States.

    Alma is subject to state and federal laws and regulations, and the Platform or some of the Services may not be available in your state. You represent that you are not barred from enrolling for or using the Platform or Services under the laws of the United States or any other jurisdiction(s) in which you may be located. Access to and use of the Platform and the Services is limited exclusively to users located in states within the United States where the Platform and the Services are available. The Platform and the Services are not available to users located outside the United States. Accessing the Platform or obtaining the Services from jurisdictions where content is illegal, or where we do not offer the Platform or Services, is prohibited.

  3. Children’s Privacy

    Our Platform is not designed for or targeted at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 and children under the age of 13 are not permitted to use our Platform or share Personal Information on our Platform.

    Alma understands the importance of protecting children’s privacy in the interactive online world. Our Platform is not designed for or intentionally targeted at children 13 years of age or younger. We do not knowingly collect or maintain information from anyone under the age of 13. Children under the age of 13 are prohibited from using our Platform and the Services, and from submitting any Personal Information to the Platform. If we learn that we have collected or received Personal Information from a child under 13, we will delete that information. If you believe a child under the age of 13 might have provided us with their Personal Information, please Contact Us.

  4. Does Alma respond to Do Not Track signals?

    Our Website is currently not set up to respond to do-not-track signals that may be sent by some browsers.

    Some web browsers have a “Do Not Track” feature. This feature lets you tell websites you visit that you do not want to have your online activity tracked. These features are not yet uniform across browsers. Our Platform is not currently set up to respond to those signals.

  5. Data Security

    Information can never be fully secure when it is transmitted over the Internet, but we do our best to protect your Personal Information by limiting what we send, strengthening our security, and taking a look at our practices regularly. We are constantly improving our security program at Alma so that you Personal Information is in even safer hands than it was the last time you used our Services.

    We do need your help to keep your Personal Information secure, not just with Alma but across all your online presences, and we ask that you make strong, unique passwords, use a multi-factor authentication whenever it’s available, and be cautious about how you’re sharing your information and who you’re sharing it with.

    We have implemented reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect against the risk of unauthorized access, alteration, destruction, disclosure, or use of your Personal Information. The Internet is not 100% secure and we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted through the Internet. Any transmission of Personal Information is at your own risk.

    We do need your help to keep your Personal Information secure, not just with Alma but across all your online presences, and we ask that you make strong, unique passwords, use a multi-factor authentication whenever it’s available, and be cautious about how you’re sharing your information and who you’re sharing it with. We are not responsible for the circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on our Platform, in your operating system, or mobile device.

    Under some circumstances, California law may provide you with the right to obtain a list of third parties (if any) that we provide your Personal Information to for their own direct marketing purposes. California law may provide you with certain rights under the CCPA such as deletion, amendment, opting out of use, and more.     California’s Shine the Light Law.

    California Civil Code Section 1798.83 (California’s “Shine the Light” law) permits users of our Platform and/or the Services that are California residents and who provide Personal Information in obtaining products and services for personal, family, or household use to request certain information regarding our disclosure of Personal Information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. If applicable, this information would include the categories of Personal Information and the names and addresses of those businesses with which we shared your Personal Information with for the immediately prior calendar year (e.g. requests made in 2021 will receive information regarding such activities in 2020).
