What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Ever since I can remember, I always had a desire to help others. My experiences of hardship taught me how difficult it can be to rise above them without adequate support, and I also learned about how life-changing and transformative it can be to have the right type of help. My goal with each client is to provide effective help so they can resolve the difficulties that are getting in the way of living their best life.
What should someone know about working with you?
My clients usually describe me as genuine, caring, perceptive, gentle yet direct, down-to-earth, and welcoming with a dash of humor. Other than gathering information to understand the presenting concerns, we use the first session to establish the goals the client would like to achieve and define what success will look like. We then work collaboratively to achieve these goals.
Do you have advanced training on any therapeutic approaches?
Yes, I have completed advanced training on emotionally-focused therapy (EFT) for couples and have obtained training on EFT for families and individuals. This is an evidence-based therapy approach with a significant rate of effectiveness when addressing interpersonal difficulties.
