What was your path to becoming a therapist?
What I bring to you as a therapist is 20+ years of experience working with adults trying to navigate life as it was offered or altered by events while creating the best version of themselves. Some of the areas I specialize in are mental health, substance abuse treatment, overseas multicultural environments, hospital settings, trauma (PTSD, sexual assaults, traumatic deaths, military deployments), homeless services, and problem gambling.
What should someone know about working with you?
The initial session will be an intake where we will look at what is bringing you to therapy and what your goals are. Sometimes, there is homework, which may look like a variety of things from reading something to practicing a skill discussed in session to trying a new activity. You can expect a whole health approach to therapy.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
Telehealth has been a wonderful addition to the landscape; it has enabled clients more access to treatment regardless of vacation travel, sick children at home, transportation issues, overtime at work, or the weather.
