“The power of kindness, affection, and just simply listening can change a person’s life and I believe that accessibility to an environment built on these factors is extremely beneficial.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Growing up, I remember being drawn to helping others. The power of kindness, affection, and just simply listening can change a person’s life and I believe that accessibility to an environment built on these factors is extremely beneficial. During my time as a recreational therapist for children and adolescents struggling with mental health, I found alternate ways for people to express themselves. It was during this time that I decided to embark on my journey into social work, allowing me to incorporate both clinical and creative approaches to therapy.
What should someone know about working with you?
My approach to treatment will vary between cases based on the individual’s needs. I take pride in creating a working relationship with all of my clients. Together, we will explore reasons for seeking treatment, identify goals, and develop strategies to achieve those goals. With the use of strategies such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), behavior modification, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care, I will help you become your best self.
How do your own core values shape your approach to therapy?
I believe that everyone is unique and brings something to the table even if it is hard for them to see it for themselves. Based on this, I strive to create a nonjudgmental environment where all feel welcome. By creating this, I hope to allow the healing process to begin.
