“Our experience working together will include an in-depth exploration of thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors to provide you with a full understanding of why they occur and how to regulate them to change.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
My journey toward this career began earlier, when I was an adolescent struggling with depression and anxiety after leaving my country and my family at 13 years old, finding myself in a new and terrorizing culture without friends. Here I am 20 years later, learning new things every day and opening myself to life (even when it's scary). One day, during my career as a dentist I recognized that human behavior was fascinating and complex, and I wanted to understand more. That curiosity has made me complete two masters, one in Psychoanalysis and second one Mental Health. My ideal client is someone who has curiosity about themselves, their behavior and whatever they feel. I truly believe in therapy, since I’ve been a client myself in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and have been able to experience the amazing benefits that therapy has had for my inner and external life.
What should someone know about working with you?
Our experience working together will include an in-depth exploration of thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors to provide you with a full understanding of why they occur and how to regulate them to change. The goal is to lead you to a place of profound happiness, success, and contentment with yourself and your life. Our interactions will help you reclaim your former self before it was tainted by negative life experiences. These may include abuse, trauma, betrayal, or other situations that caused pain and disruption or emotional disturbances like anxiety, depression, or unbalanced living that leads to an inauthentic experience. After careful research and intense education, I have developed a psychoanalytic framework that allows individuals to become familiar with their deepest conflicts and the struggles that keep them from living their most rewarding life.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
A large part of my ongoing studies follows my interest in how to integrate spiritual topics and art within the field of mental health. Most of my continuing education credits are based on exploring how to integrate these topics in my practice. For example, I find practices that encourage mindfulness, self-awareness, art exercises, and ongoing development very helpful with my clients. In my free time you could find me meditating, reading a novel, hiking, or watching a documentary about an artist and their struggles. I believe that life is more complex than just completing societal goals and other people's expectations. One day you will find yourself at the end of your life, and you will need to ask yourself if it was worth it. My work is to make that answer a Yes!
