“Therapy requires a partnership approach through discussion and exploration; together, we learn to recognize daily challenges encountered and work toward accepting change.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
My journey toward becoming a therapist is a very personal one. I have had a passion for psychology since I can remember and have always wanted to help others. Early in my career, I began working in the financial sector, serving clients from diverse backgrounds. Becoming a mother of a special needs child provided me with unconditional motivation to pursue higher education in mental health. I am dedicated to supporting and assisting disadvantaged populations in improving their quality of life. I currently work in a mental health outpatient clinical setting and have experience working in a substance use treatment facility. In the process of helping clients manage their symptoms, I decided to enroll in energy healing classes to offer integrative treatment. My approach to health and wellness follows a holistic and intuitive process.
What should someone know about working with you?
My goal is to create a nonjudgmental environment where the client can develop a genuine therapeutic relationship with the therapist. The intake process is an introduction with the goal of gaining a greater understanding of who you are. It also allows you the opportunity to ask questions about me and the therapeutic process. Therapy requires a partnership approach through discussion and exploration; together, we learn to recognize daily challenges encountered and work toward accepting change. Our sessions help you to attain insight into thinking patterns, explore barriers preventing you from living your best life, and assist you in coping with life's challenging moments.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I enroll in numerous professional development courses aimed at improving and enhancing my clinical skills. I earn CEU credits yearly, read books, and collaborate with other providers. Networking and collaborating with other therapists enhance my ability to further develop my practice.
