What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Being a therapist is my passion. I have worked in various careers in the helping field, such as medical social work, substance abuse counseling, and mental health assessments. I am a first-generation American born to Jamaican parents. My studies and life experiences have molded me into a very well-rounded therapist. I have worked with several school systems and court systems to assist with providing anger management and conflict resolution therapy, counseling, workshops, and seminars.
What should someone know about working with you?
Intake forms are provided and completed. Therapy is a daily development so homework is assigned. I work with a wide range of clients, from adults and working professionals to students and the senior population.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I take monthly courses and read to refresh my knowledge on the most effective evidence-based practices.
How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?
Growing up as a first-generation American has assisted me in understanding the need for cultural sensitivity. I am very attentive to how important it is for immigrants to feel understood.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
Being able to provide quality services to people remotely is one of the greatest benefits of telehealth. It allows clients to find resolutions.
